In 2018 BSSLPS carried out a LED lighting upgrade to 5 basketball courts at the Victorian State Basketball Centre owned by Knox City Council.

Home to the WNBL side the Melbourne Boomers, all five courts can be configured for either Basketball or Netball and have hosted both the men's national team the Boomers and the women’s team the Opals.

A total of 96 Australian Made 150w Eco High Bay lights were installed each with polycarbonate lenses to ensure safety regarding impact resistance. Lux levels were substantially improved when compared to the pre-installation levels using 400w metal halides. Annual electricity running costs were reduced from $82,000 down to $35,000 with additional benefits of zero maintenance costs for 5 years and a reduction in carbon emissions.
